POOL NERDS

Our newest club sponsor is Pool Nerds, the local expert servicing commercial and domestic pools & spas all over the Northern Beaches. Pool Nerds is owned by Dave Hancock, a long serving Avalon Soccer Club player, coach and Youth VP.

Pool Nerds’ wide range of pool & spa services include:

  • Regular maintenance
  • Repairs
  • Plumbing & installations
  • New equipment
  • Chemicals
  • Heating
  • Lighting
  • Makeovers & upgrades
  • Eco, healthy & chlorine-free options

Pool Nerds has chosen to sponsor the club’s U18/A team, which is currently sitting joint top of the U18 division 2, with four wins from its first four games. This talented team is coached by Mike Read, an experienced and demanding Englishman, who’s quickly got the team to gel, by playing an exciting brand of ‘pass and move’ football.

After Saturday’s 3-1 away win against Curl Curl, Mike said, “I want the boys to wear the Avalon colours with pride. It’s often said in life …’look good, be good’. Well, the boys look great in their Pool Nerds sponsored gear and we played well once we got going today.”

Dave Hancock added, “I’m proud to sponsor the U18s because they have the right attitude, both on and off the field. Pool Nerds has a well-known reputation for strong principles, professionalism and honesty and I certainly know that Coach Mike has high principles, he makes that very clear.”

SURF COLLECTIVE

Surf Collective was born of the desire to help support and protect Australia’s grassroots surfing culture. Realising how much the industry had changed since his childhood in the 70’s – now dominated by multi-nationals and their mass-produced products – founder Mark Ranucci connected with a number of independent Aussie surf brands with the idea of giving them a greater voice by bringing them together via an online platform. Each brand in the Collective is proudly Australian owned, independent and produces quality products made with passion – products simply not found in the mainstream. And each has its own unique brand story.

Their aim is to give these brands a platform to be found online by having them all being on the one online store www.surfcollective.com.au .

They have also run programs with Year 10 Business Studies students at Barrenjoey High School where the company have helped set up 4 small businesses in their time there over the last few years.

The company came on board as a team sponsor in 2020 and are back to support the U10 Lions this season! Ranucci is delighted to be back as a team sponsor.

“As a parent of kids that love playing in teams at Avalon Soccer Club we are super pleased to be able to be a sponsor of this great local club for the second year in a row.”

Keep your eye out for the Lions in 2021 and support local business Surf Collective by heading to their online store or their pop up shop in The Sneaky Grind cafe in Avalon.
