The curtain fell on the 2018 season this weekend, with more silverware returning to Careel Bay, as Avalon’s Women’s Youth sides once again showing their quality.
The dominant W16/1 group took out the Grand Final after a titanic struggle with Seaforth. Trailing 1-0 at the break, the girls hit back in the second half to claim a 2-1 victory and take out the 2018 crown.
The Grand Final victory completed an incredible year for the W16/1s who romped through the season unbeaten in MWFA competition. The girls topped the regular season table with 15 wins from 15 games, conceding just 3 goals.
The senior girls in the W18/1s completed a great day at Cromer Park by taking out the title following a 1-0 win over local rivals Pittwater. A stunning goal from Geordie Smith gave the Reds the crown.
Elsewhere the W13/1s suffered Grand Final heartbreak, going down to CC Strikers on penalties following a tense 2-2 draw. And on the mens side the O45/2/s went down 2-0 in their Grand Final to BTH Raiders, and last week the U12/2B’s ended up as runners up in their first competitive season.
Don’t forget Junior/Youth Presentation Day is THIS SATURDAY from 9.30am at Avalon Public School. A full schedule will be released later today (Monday).
