Player Development

Player Development

Player Development is a fundamental area of focus for the Avalon Soccer Club. We believe passionately that we should put developing our players’ skills first no matter of their current skill level. We have set ourselves the goal for being the premier grassroots club for Player Development in the MWFA. Winning the 2013 MWFA Presidents Cup for Best Junior Club for the first time in Avalon Soccer Club’s history, shows that we are on the right track but we are still striving to get even better.

Our Player Development strategy has two key areas of focus: Coach Education and the AVSC Development Program.

All of our Player Development Programs are designed in line with the FFA Curriculum Youth Development Building Blocks. This ensures that all of our programs are age and ability appropriate and follow World’s best practice. All of our Player Development Activities are Football NSW sanctioned and are covered by their Personal Accident Insurance Policy.

Club Coach Co-ordinator (CCC) Program

The Club Coach Co-ordinator Program (CCC) is a nationwide program from Football Federation Australia and is designed to support grassroots coaches in their own environment at their club. The CCC Program closely aligns with the Coaching Director role at AVSC.

Avalon Soccer Club has recently launched the CCC program and aims to support its members by ensuring all coaches are comfortable and confident delivering fun, engaging and age-appropriate training sessions for their team.

The CCC program will help build relationships through the club as we work together for the players by supporting parents and new and inexperienced coaches so that our players and coaches will have a better experience and continue to be involved each year.

The CCC’s (and Coaching Directors) at Avalon are currently Jud Harrison and Lyndal Carruthers who are available for coaching support and guidance. Please contact us if you would like some support. This program is FREE.

Expressions of interest are sought from current coaches who are interested in becoming a CCC.
