After many years of being a dedicated volunteer for our club we are delighted to report that Jacinta Newcombe was honoured at the recent MWFA AGM with the MWFA Meritorious Service Award.
Jacinta, recently nominated as a life member of Avalon Soccer Club, received the award from MWFA Chair David Wilson in recognition of her more than 13 years of service at Careel Bay.
Across this period Jacinta has contributed to the running of the club in a huge number of ways:
• 10 years as a Junior & Youth Team Manager – U6’s to U15’s
• 6 years as a Youth Team Manager – W12’s to W18’s
• 6 years as Head Registrar (current position)
• 2 years as Club Secretary (current position)
• 6 years on the Executive Committee (current position)
On top of her official duties Jacinta has done the hard yards involved in volunteering at a grassroots club, from being a regular presence at set-up and pack down of the fields, to organising grading and gala days, clubhouse cleans, merchandise sales and even cooking a snag or 200 on the BBQ.
“Well done Jacinta! This award is well deserved for all the years of volunteering at the club.” said president John Kowtan.
“Jacinta’s remarkable decade plus stint has been critical to ensure the smooth running of Avalon Soccer Club. There is no job at the club that Jacinta hasn’t undertaken and given 100%. All club’s need volunteers of Jacinta’s calibre as they are the true backbone and heartbeat of the club.”
The Avalon Soccer Club has been very lucky to have someone like Jacinta Newcombe as a volunteer for
many years and we can’t think of a more worthy recipient for the MWFA Meritorious Service Award.
