To all our Avalon Soccer Club members
I hope everyone is safe and well, and managing to cope with this extended lockdown, the 3rd in the last 18 months that we have experienced here in Avalon.
This has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone in the community and everyone involved with the club. We all hoped that restrictions would ease to the point that we’d be able to complete the season. However it was not to be.
As the curtains close on our 2021 season I wanted to extend a thank you to our fantastic managers, knowledgeable coaches, generous sponsors, tireless volunteers and the positive and determined attitude of our players. From our juniors to our senior teams and everyone in between, the attitude, mindset and competitive spirit within our Avalon community has been second to none.
All 2021 players will have received an email from MWFA confirming that 2022 fees will be reduced in the wake of the shortened 2021 season. When we have the exact figures we will share the breakdown for the 2022 fee reduction directly with you all. It will also be clearly identified when you register to play for 2022 on the Play Football system.
Congratulations to our 3 teams who were crowned 2021 Champions, WAL1s, W18/2s and W15/2s. We are incredibly proud of your achievements.
I wish we could all be celebrating the season’s triumphs like we used to, gathering the various teams together in our community, however for another year we must wait. In the meantime we are today launching nominations for our Virtual Season Awards, sponsored by LJ Hooker, to be announced on Friday September 24th. The categories and how to nominate are available HERE.
A reminder that we have launched an online development program for all players that can be accessed HERE. While we can’t enjoy our football together until next season, it’s important to us to be able to offer something, especially for our younger players, during this difficult time.
Once restrictions are eased we’ll be in a position to collect the team kitbags, and distribute our 2021 Team Photos and Junior player season medals. Please help us to prepare by ensuring the bags are COVID ready. All GK jerseys, bibs and bags thoroughly washed with any balls, cones wiped down as well ready for collection.
I hope that everyone involved has enjoyed their time playing with us this year and felt proud to pull on the famous red Avalon jersey to represent our Club, your family and football here on the beaches. Lets make 2022 bigger and better!
