It is with deep sadness that Avalon Soccer Club mourns long time member Courtney Jones, who lost her life earlier this week.
Courtney was a member at the club for over 15 years, starting in our U8’s in 2003, and becoming a key member of a number of successful teams in her teenage years, all the way through to Women’s Premier League level in 2016.
Courtney was also an eager participant in the coaching buddy program that saw her matched up with the current W13/1 side for the last 2 and half years. Courtney had a profound impact on this group of girls helping to nurture their talent and personalities with her football knowledge, her positive nature and the bond she developed with the team.
We will miss a truly special young person and our thoughts go to her teammates past and present, family, friends and all who knew her. Her loss has been keenly felt by the Avalon Soccer Club and the entire Avalon community.
A number of our teams will this weekend pay tribute to Courtney with a moments silence.
In honour of Courtney, the Jones family have requested that well wishers raise funds for HeadSpace in her memory. Follow this link https://headspace.org.au/get-involved/donations/ to donate in memory of Courtney Jones. By supporting HeadSpace you will be honouring Courtney’s family and her memory.
