To all Avalon Soccer Club members

Firstly it’s been great seeing so many of you at Careel Bay over the last few weeks as we’ve made the tentative first steps back to training. This has been a difficult and uncertain few months for everyone, and seeing the kids running around again has been great to see and a welcome step back to normality.  I’d like to thank all our members for their patience over this period, and for complying with the training regulations implemented by Football NSW. We are now in stage 2 of the training plan, with groups of 20 now allowed, but social distancing must be maintained, contact training is not allowed, and everyone must practice good hygiene while we are still in this period.
From July 1, matches and full contact training will be allowed, and the first Avalon teams will be in competition for the 2020 season on Friday July 3rd. It’s been a long and difficult road to get to this point. I’d like to publicly acknowledge the hard work done by Football NSW and the MWFA in getting us to a position where we will have a meaningful competition this year. The season has been extended to the first weekend in October allowing us 3 full months of football for our members, including matches over school holidays for the first time, and while this will undoubtedly present come challenges for teams, as a club we want to support you and ensure that our teams get as much football as possible.
There are still a number of unknowns about the season in terms of spectators, access to club facilities and more, but we will work through them together as a club, communicate outcomes and create the best possible experience for our members. Please keep checking the website and our social channels for the latest.
Finally a word of sincere thanks to the club’s executive committee who have been working in the background for months in preparation to get us to this point. Everyone at the club is a volunteer, and gives up their time to serve the AVSC community. At a time of great uncertainty in people’s lives, their efforts are greatly appreciated.
See you at The Bay.
