AVALON 035’s CONTINUE TO RAISE MONEY FOR BEAR COTTAGE

Avalon’s O35 team played Manly Vale today (Saturday) in a tight and hard fought game at Cromer Park in a pre-season charity friendly, raising well over $500 on the day for Bear Cottage.
Every year the two teams play each other in pre-season friendlies, and will also face each other this season as both are competing in the O35 division 5 competition.
Avalon’s Dave Hancock said, “Whenever we play each other the Bear Cottage Cup is presented to the winner of the game and we all put in money for this very worthwhile charity. We’ve been doing this now for over 5 years. We’ve got a great relationship with the Manly Vale boys, but don’t get me wrong, once the game starts all friendship goes out of the window for 90 minutes.”
Unfortunately the game was won this time by Manly Vale 3-1. However, the two sides will meet again in only 4 weeks time to give Avalon the chance to get the cup swiftly back home to Careel Bay.
Bear Cottage is the only children’s hospice in NSW – a very special place that’s dedicated to caring for children with life-limiting conditions. For more information, or to make a donation, please visit http://www.bearcottage.chw.edu.au
